Parsley Estate - "Live Oaks" - Masonboro Sound.
The house was built in 1912-13 by Walter Linton Parsley (1856-1941), a Wilmington lumberman, and was designed by Henry Bacon (1866-1924), a resident of Wilmington during his childhood and the architect of the Lincoln Memorial. The unique octagonal house was built with coquina, a material in which oyster shells are mixed and pressed into concrete for use in its walls.
