New Hanover County is preparing a Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, which must be approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in order to obtain mitigation funding after future disasters. We are required to obtain citizen input as we develop the plan. That input is related to what you as a citizen consider to be the major natural hazards in the County.
One way the County is obtaining that information is to hold public participation meetings. The first meeting was held on Thursday, March 4th. A second public meeting will be scheduled later in the spring and will be advertised in the Wilmington Star-News and the Island Gazette.
Thank you for your assistance
in developing the plan!
