Emergency Management's Equipment

ES-50
Mass Casualty & Logistical Support Unit
Contains support equipment and supplies to assist in
mass casualty events, incident worker rehabilitation, and other scenes
where additional support equipment may be needed.

ES-60
Incident Support Unit (Radiological Response)
Contains equipment and supplies needed to respond to
an incident involving radioactive materials.

MACC-1
Multi-Agency Communications & Coordination Unit
(Mobile Command Post)
A fully self contained command post that can be
requested by other agencies for use during incidents. Unit has an
onboard generator, satellite phone, cell phones, radios, copier / fax,
maps, meeting spaces, etc. Unit has been used on searches, fires,
public events, special law enforcement operations, etc.

ES-16
Field Response Vehicle
This vehicle is used to respond to both emergency
and non-emergency incidents. It contains equipment for radiological,
HazMat, search & Rescue, and other types of emergencies. It has
multiple radios for inter-agency coordination, satellite phone, etc.

Portable Communications
Tower
This portable tower unit contains radio repeaters
and hand-held radios that can be deployed on an incident wherever it's
needed. With two separate repeaters, and seperate sets of radios for
each repeater, this unit can be extremely helpful to areas that have
lost communications. Almost any type of antenna on any frequency can
be mounted on the mast and deployed. Set up time for partial operation
is about 15 minutes. Full operation takes about an hour. When
deployed, the mast stands 102 feet tall, giving an excellent coverage
area for the radios. This unit has been used during hurricanes, search
& rescue in remote areas, public events, preparedness exercises, etc.

Portable Light Tower
This portable lighting unit is used to provide scene
lighting wherever necessary. The powerful lamps can light a large
area, and with the tower raised up to 45 feet in height, this units
provides plenty of light for both emergency and non-emergency
incidents. It has been used for HazMat scenes, search & rescue, public
events, law enforcement special operations, etc.

ES-51
This 14 foot long jon boat is used in shallow water
rescue and recovery operations. It has been on several successful
missions. With New Hanover County being surrounded by water, boats are
a vital and necessary asset for emergency responders. It carries water
rescue gear, radios, an underwater camera system, and lighting for
night operations.

15 to 30 Kilowatt
Generators
These generators provide portable power for
emergency or incident support. Originally military generators, these
units are now outfitted with "gang" boxes to provide power to multiple
users at one time. All of these large generators are diesel powered
and can run for extended lengths of time. These units can be deployed
to assist on any emergency scene, or provide power to vital operations
during a disaster.

5 to 10 Kilowatt Generators
These generators also provide portable power for
emergency or incident support. NHCEM has both LP, diesel and gasoline
powered gen-sets. These units as well can be deployed to assist on any
emergency scene, or provide power to vital operations during a
disaster.

Shelter Trailers
These semi-vans are used to transport and store
support supplies for disaster shelter operations. Each van has
supplies for multiple shelters, and they can be deployed seperatly or
all on one scene.

All Terrain Vehicle
This equipment provides much needed support to
search & rescue operations by allowing a rapid deployment of team
members to search large areas. This is particularly useful when
looking for persons on foot. It also has a mobile basket on wheels
that can be pulled to transport a victim from secluded areas where air
support is not possible.
